The son of a White Garment Church prophetess today appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged destruction of a N2.1 million building.

19-year-old Bright Nora, a resident of Ile-Ogbo Street, Abule Egba, Lagos, was accused setting ablaze a house whose occupants complained of disturbance by the religious activities of his mother.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate O.O.A. Fowowe-Erusiafe directed that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She ordered that the accused should be kept in prison custody pending perfection of the bail terms.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Mariam Dauda told the court that the accused committed the arson on Dec. 4 at 4.00p.m., at No. 35, Ile-Ogbo St., Abule Egba.
Dauda said that the accused set ablaze the building after the occupants confronted him and his mother over alleged noise disturbance through the mother’s religious activities.
“The accused, in a bid to deal with the occupants of the compound after challenging his mother, set ablaze the building belonging to Mrs. Nkiru Michael,”Dauda said.
She submitted that the offence contravened Section 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case court adjourned the case till Jan. 16 for mention.
